A total of 118 science teachers from West Java and East Java are taking part in DC-STEM (Digital Collaborative on STEM), a teacher training program on designing and implementing STEM learning oriented toward Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Organized by the RKLI Team of Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ibrohim, M.Si., the program runs from 19 September to 7 November 2026 and combines online, hybrid, and school-based activities so that teachers move from learning concepts to applying them in their own classrooms.

The program opened online on 19 September 2026 with sessions on ESD-oriented STEM learning and lesson design, presented by Dr. Eliyawati, M.Pd. and Putra Habib Dhitareka, M.Pd. of UPI and Erni Yulianti, Ph.D. of UM. A week later, participants joined a hybrid workshop on the Engineering Design Process, building solar panel kits on site or designing with Tinkercad online, before taking their lesson plans into the classroom. Over two weeks, the teachers taught and recorded their STEM lessons while the team carried out Lesson Study visits to selected schools. The program has now reached its online Re-Design stage, where teachers presented their classroom results, reflected on them with facilitators, and received feedback to refine their lesson designs, with UPI mentoring teachers from West Java and UM mentoring teachers from East Java.

The teachers are currently teaching their revised lessons in a second round of classroom implementation. The coming weeks will bring a joint evaluation and reflection session between West Java and East Java, a best practice writing and sharing session, and a post-workshop project that will produce an ISBN-registered anthology of the participants’ best practices. Through this collaboration, UM and UPI hope to build a growing network of science teachers able to design meaningful STEM learning that prepares students to take part in a sustainable future.
