On 31 January 2026, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) successfully organized OPEN VISIT UPI 2026, an annual event aimed at introducing study programs and academic life at UPI to the public. The main event took place at the Gymnasium UPI, while several faculties, including FPMIPA, also opened their laboratories for visitors through the “Open Lab” session.
The event was open to senior high school students, parents, and teachers, particularly Grade 12 students who are preparing to continue their studies at the university level. Through this program, participants had the opportunity to gain firsthand information about study programs, facilities, academic atmosphere, and student activities at UPI.
The purpose of the event was to introduce study programs at UPI and provide comprehensive information about academic activities, facilities, and student life. Through this event, participants had the opportunity to explore campus life more closely and interact directly with lecturers and students
OPEN LABORATORIES IN FPMIPA
In our study program, we opened two laboratories for visitors: the Chemistry Laboratory and the Physics Laboratory. The committee from our study program consisted of Prof. Ari Widodo as Head of Study Program and Prof. Eka Cahya Prima as Secretary of the Study Program, supported by Dr. Nanang Winarno, Dr. Eliyawati, Putra Habib Dhitareka, Riana Nurismawati, Resik Ajeng Maria, and Latif Budiana. In addition, we recruited 14 student volunteers who actively contributed to the success of the event, with six students assigned to the Chemistry Lab, six students to the Physics Lab, and two students serving as guides for visiting participants.
To ensure an engaging experience, the team carefully prepared various supporting materials, including exclusive merchandise such as pouches and keychains, as well as informative leaflets about the study program.
Both laboratories featured six interactive experiments and demonstrations designed to be interesting, educational, and fun. Visitors could observe hands-on demonstrations and directly interact with lecturers and student volunteers, allowing them to better understand the learning process and research activities conducted in the laboratories.
Although most participants gathered at the main event in the Gymnasium and only a limited number visited the laboratories, the Open Lab session in our study program ran smoothly and successfully.
Overall, the event reflected strong collaboration between lecturers, staff, and students, highlighting the commitment of the study program to provide quality education and an inspiring learning environment.
