Advancing the international reputation of science education research at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Doctoral Candidate Eliyawati participated in the East-Asia Association for Science Education (EASE) Winter School.

The prestigious academic program was held in Thailand from January 14–20, 2024, hosted jointly by the Science Education Association (Thailand), Srinakharinwirot University, Kasetsart University, and Khon Kaen University.

Fostering Regional Collaborative Research & Doctoral Defense

The EASE Winter School brought together Ph.D. candidates and leading science education experts from seven countries. During the intensive week-long academic gathering, Eliyawati participated in:

  • Dissertation Presentation & Mentorship: Presenting ongoing doctoral research proposals and receiving direct feedback and supervision from international professors.
  • Collaborative Research Proposal Development: Engaging in round-table research consultations aimed at formulating cross-border research initiatives in science education across East and Southeast Asia.
  • Specialized Workshops & Lectures: Attending advanced research methodology lectures and academic writing workshops led by regional scholars.

Contributing to International Scholarly Publications

In addition to participating in international research mobility, Eliyawati has actively contributed to peer-reviewed international scientific literature. Her research collaboration titled “Science Communication: An Opportunity for Enhancing Pre-service Science Teachers’ Implementing Science Communication in School Contexts” was successfully published in the Journal of Science Learning (Volume 8, Issue 2, Pages 156–163).

Working alongside international co-authors—including project leader Witsanu Suttiwan, Thapana Choicharoen, and Ananta Ardyansyah—Eliyawati contributed to the literature review framework, introduction, and reference accuracy for the study.

Eliyawati’s participation in the EASE Winter School underscores the Science Education Program’s commitment to encouraging doctoral candidates to build global academic networks, publish in international journals, and participate in cross-cultural academic exchanges.
