On Monday, November 18th, 2024, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) welcomed science teachers visit from MGMP IPA Kab. Bekasi to the International Program on Science Education (IPSE). The group, consisting of 27 teachers, was greeted warmly by Head of MGMP IPA, expressing excitement for the collaboration This was followed by remarks from the the Secretary of the Science Education Study Program, Dr. Eka Cahya Prima, M.T., who opened the event with a welcoming speech. Before diving into hands-on activities, teachers were introduced to the IPSE program, its unique offerings, and its focus on fostering international-standard science education.
The main activities took place in the IPSE physics lab, where teachers explored advanced learning tools and concepts. Hosted by Dr. Eka Cahya Prima and supported by Mr. Putra Habib and three IPSE 2021 students, the session began with an introduction to laboratory tools like multimeters and resistors. Teachers learned to read resistor values both manually and using an Android app. They then moved on to practice constructing series and parallel circuits on and creating LED circuits powered by solar cells on a breadboard. Adding a creative twist, participants built mini fan circuits using a potentiometer and experimented with 3.3-volt module circuits. These activities provided a hands-on understanding of physics principles while emphasizing sustainable energy solutions.
The visit not only enhanced the teachers’ knowledge of physics but also sparked their curiosity and creativity. By working directly with tools and materials, they gained practical insights that complemented their classroom learning. UPI’s IPSE team was delighted to host such an enthusiastic group of science teachers and hopes this visit inspires their future endeavors in the field of science and technology.
