Bandung, May 5, 2025 — The Science Education and Biology Education Study Programs at FPMIPA, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), were honored to host a thought-provoking roundtable discussion with Associate Professor Minsu Ha from Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea. The event, held in the FPMIPA Meeting Room, gathered around 23 faculty members from both study programs and fostered in-depth academic dialogue across two engaging sessions.
The morning session, running from 10:00 to 12:00, was moderated by Mrs. Lilit Rusyati and began with Prof. Ha presenting his latest research on cognitive bias and the development of AI-based grading systems. His presentation sparked stimulating questions and discussions among participants, especially in relation to how cognitive tendencies can influence educational decisions and how AI technologies may enhance the objectivity and efficiency of student assessment.
In the afternoon session from 13:30 to 15:00, moderated by Mrs. Amaira Utami, the conversation shifted toward the application of AI in science education assessments, particularly in the context of evaluating student-generated diagrams and responses related to biology topics such as evolution and the reproductive system. Discussions explored how technology can be utilized to assess complex visual and conceptual student work, while also addressing the challenges of cognitive bias in these assessments. This academic exchange not only deepened mutual understanding but also opened potential avenues for future collaborative research between UPI and SNU.
The roundtable discussion with Prof. Ha highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue, especially at the intersection of education, cognitive science, and technology. The event served as a meaningful platform to explore innovations in teaching, learning, and assessment, and demonstrated UPI’s ongoing commitment to international collaboration and educational advancement.
